Learning The Didgeridoo DVD
Chris Adnam enjoys the privilege of learning to play the didgeridoo from Arnhemland Tribal Teachers.
Chris Adnam's knowledge and both his traditional and innovative performances on the didgeridoo are highly regarded right across Australia.
Beginning slowly and thoroughly Chris Adnam introduces this eight part didgeridoo teaching method which takes us from the initial cheek strenghening excercises right to fast multi-voiced excercises.
The eight parts are explained, demonstrated and can then be repeatedly rehearsed to ANIMATED PLAYALONG which shows notes, duration and musical effects obtained from the didgeridoo.
This is a very clear teaching technique that uses simple visual equivalents to the music to reinforce and bring layers of delight to the learning process.
Running time: 57 mins approx.
Voices of Our Ancestors CD
Chris Adnam began playing the didgeridoo from the age of 12. He later left his homelands in Warrandyte in Victotia and travelled the rainforests of North Queensland, through the desert regions into Arnhem Land where he studied, lived and shared the musical experience of the Yolgnu people, the traditional masters of the yidaki or didjeridu. His journey continued throughout the volcanic regions of New Zealand, over to traditional Shinto temples in Japan until finally traversing the mountain ranges of the Indonesian Archipelago.
Since his first performance in 1990 he has won awards for his contemporary style, also playing for many leading dignitaries in concert halls in Asia, America, New Zealand and Australia.
This is a compilation of Australian stories set to music that bring forward a deeper understanding and respect for the oral stories of the first people of Bandayin and Arnhem Land. This comes from his personal journey relating to oral traditions which parallel Kabuki and Sing Sing theatre of the Asian and Oceanic regions.
